Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
We accept most major insurance plans including Vision Service Plan (VSP), EyeMed, Spectera (United Healthcare Vision), Moda, Providence and Blue Cross Blue Shield, to name a few. We are not in network with Davis Vision. If you have insurance questions, please send us an email, we’d be happy to look into your coverage.
How long does an eye exam take?
Your comprehensive vision exam will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour. We also ask that new patients arrive 15 minutes early for the check-in process. It is important to note that you may be dilated at the appointment, so don’t forget your sunglasses! We also offer retinal photography as an alternative to dilation for an additional fee.

Do you repair glasses?
We are able to perform minor repairs to most glasses. Services would include standard adjustments, replacing most nose pads, screw replacements, and deep cleaning. We are not able to solder any materials. We are happy to look at your frame and determine if the repair is something we can do in the office.
I've worn contacts before, why do I need to be re-evaluated each year?
Contact lenses are classified by the FDA as class II and class III medical devices; consequently they are regulated by prescription laws similar to that of prescription medications. The contact lens evaluation is to ensure that the eyes and contact lenses are still compatible. Your prescription may be updated to ensure optimal vision and eye health. Because the contact lens evaluation is elective, there is an additional evaluation fee.
Do you take Oregon Health Plan or Care Oregon?
We accept the vision plan associated with these insurance policies. We simply require the patient’s identification number prior to booking any appointment so that we may verify active vision coverage. It is important to note that these medical insurance plans only offer vision coverage to persons age 20 and younger and pregnant women. If you do not fit either of these criteria and still believe you have vision coverage, please contact your benefits administrator.
Do you only perform routine eye exams or can you treat other issues?
In addition to routine eye exams, our doctors are able to evaluate, diagnose and treat medical conditions such as dry eye, conjunctivitis, corneal abrasions, allergy related irritations, and many other eye related conditions. We also see patients on an urgent basis. If you are experiencing any floaters, flashes of light, or unexpected blurred vision, please call us immediately.

You have access to your records and invoices through your secure Patient Portal. On the portal, you also have the ability to message your doctor directly with any questions or concerns, schedule future appointments, or access your past invoices.
How often should children have an eye exam?
Children should be seen before age one, again at age three, and beginning at age five, should see an eye doctor each year to be checked for amblyopia (lazy eye), color vision, and binocular vision.
Can I use my own frame?
We are able to re-lens your existing frames, depending on the condition the frame is in. Please bring them into the office, where we have experienced opticians on hand that are happy to evaluate the frame condition and discuss the lensing process further.
